Do you ever feel a bit like a fraud? Lately I have felt really uncomfortable advising my customers on how to market themselves online, while I have not taken my own advice.
It is great advice and a great marketing strategy , there is no doubt about that. It is just that I always seem to put my customers’ needs before mine and put their deadlines ahead of my own so that I never seem to complete my own plans. (What do they say about plumbers that have leaky taps?…)
So now I have taped my list – that I created in January – on my wall where I can see it all the time and have pasted a statement beneath it that says “Today, I work for me!”
Slowly but surely I have been ticking items off my list and taking control of my marketing.
I am not done, but I am on my way! I have learnt a lesson that I thought I knew… You have to take care of yourself and your own business before you take care of others, or rather, in order to be able to take care of others.
So now I am really going to take advantage of that “hour a day” that I marked in my diary in January and have just ignored and I am going to work on my business and learning more in order to serve my clients better.
